Common questions

What does "non-nano" zinc mean?

It is a manufacturer claim about particle size, not a complete inhalation or absorption guarantee.  We record the claim when documented and still favor lotions or sticks over products designed to be sprayed or inhaled.

Can a mineral sunscreen provide broad-spectrum protection?

Yes, when the finished product is labeled broad spectrum and used as directed.  Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are the mineral sunscreen actives recognized by FDA; the product label, SPF, water-resistance directions, and application amount still matter.

Why inspect the inactive ingredients in a mineral sunscreen?

The front label does not describe the whole formula.  We review fragrance and ingredients such as butyloctyl salicylate, which can contribute UV-absorbing performance while appearing in the inactive list, so shoppers can make an informed comparison.
