Air-quality monitors

Air-quality monitors for tracking particles, carbon dioxide and other clearly identified measurements.

Particle counts, carbon dioxide and a broad VOC reading tell you different things about a room.  We identify the sensors and their limits, favoring useful trends and alerts over an unexplained air-quality score.  No single consumer monitor detects every harmful substance or proves that indoor air is safe.

Aranet Radon One Home Radon Monitor Aranet Radon One Home Radon Monitor Why we recommend it: This monitor keeps radon readings visible without a phone or a brightly lit screen.  Daily, weekly and monthly averages help you follow longer-term changes, while replaceable AA batteries let you place it away from a power outlet.  It measures radon only and does not remove it; use longer-term results and follow local testing guidance. Materials: polycarbonate housing · polyester sensor filter $179.00★ 4.7 · 69 ratings View on Amazon
Aranet4 Home CO₂, Temperature and Humidity Monitor Aranet4 Home CO₂, Temperature and Humidity Monitor Why we recommend it: A dedicated infrared sensor measures carbon dioxide, helping you see when a busy room needs more fresh air.  The screen also shows temperature and humidity, and the optional app makes it easier to spot patterns over time.  Its housing is polycarbonate plastic.  This is a ventilation monitor—not a carbon monoxide alarm or a detector for every indoor pollutant. Materials: polycarbonate plastic housing $189.00★ 4.7 · 1,000+ ratings View on Amazon
Airthings Corentium Pro Radon Monitor Airthings Corentium Pro Radon Monitor Why we recommend it: For detailed radon testing, the Corentium Pro records hourly readings alongside temperature, humidity and pressure.  Its four sensing chambers support measurements over time rather than a one-off snapshot.  NRPP lists this model for professional use with annual calibration required.  Proper placement, test duration and current calibration still matter; the monitor measures radon but does not remove it. Materials: silicon sensing elements · electronic circuitry $899.00★ 4.4 · 75 ratings View on Amazon
air-Q Science Indoor Air Quality Monitor — Standard Configuration air-Q Science Indoor Air Quality Monitor — Standard Configuration Why we recommend it: Separate CO₂, particle and gas sensors help you see how ventilation, cooking and cleaning affect indoor air.  Independent hands-on tests found useful responses to everyday changes, and local data access lets you track trends without a cloud account.  This is an investigative tool, not a replacement for certified smoke or carbon-monoxide alarms.  U.S. use requires a suitable 5V USB power supply; the included plug is European. Materials: plastic enclosure · electronic sensor modules EUR 721.85 View product
AirGradient ONE Indoor Air Quality Monitor — I-9PSL AirGradient ONE Indoor Air Quality Monitor — I-9PSL Why we recommend it: Track fine-particle spikes from cooking alongside directly measured CO₂ to check filtration and ventilation separately.  The ONE is listed in RESET’s accredited-monitor directory for PM2.5, CO₂, TVOC, temperature and humidity.  Its open-source design supports local data access.  Assembled and tested in Thailand, with an ASA plastic housing.  Gas indices cannot identify individual chemicals, and the monitor does not clean the air. Materials: ASA plastic enclosure · electronic air-quality sensors · OLED display $230.00 View product
AirGradient Open Air Outdoor Air Quality Monitor — O-1PST AirGradient Open Air Outdoor Air Quality Monitor — O-1PST Why we recommend it: Follow outdoor PM2.5 levels near your home instead of relying only on a distant monitoring station.  The Open Air also measures CO₂ directly and logs relative VOC/NOx indices.  Each assembled unit is checked in AirGradient’s own test chamber against a reference instrument.  Its ASA plastic housing is weather-resistant; internal heating can skew temperature and humidity readings.  Assembled in Thailand.  This is a monitor, not an air cleaner. Materials: weather-resistant ASA plastic housing · particle and gas sensors · USB-powered electronics $225.00 View product
AIRVALENT Elegance CO2, Temperature and Humidity Monitor AIRVALENT Elegance CO2, Temperature and Humidity Monitor GLASSALUMINUM Why we recommend it: Track CO2 alongside temperature and humidity to see how a room responds to ventilation.  The compact rechargeable monitor has a clear display, with history and calibration in its Bluetooth app.  Independent hands-on testing found good agreement with other consumer monitors at room temperature, but larger discrepancies above 86°F. It does not measure particles or replace smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms. Materials: anodized aluminum frame · tempered glass · electronic sensors $111.46 View product
uRADMonitor Model A4 Multi-Sensor WiFi Air Monitor uRADMonitor Model A4 Multi-Sensor WiFi Air Monitor Why we recommend it: The A4 combines particle and CO₂ sensing with separate sensors for formaldehyde, ozone, carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, making it useful for comparing air-quality trends in one place.  Its replaceable sensor board can simplify maintenance.  The weather-shielded housing is plastic; low readings are not proof that a room is pollutant-free or a substitute for safety alarms. Materials: ASA/resin plastic housing · optical and infrared sensors · electrochemical gas sensors · electronic circuit boards $529.00 View product
uRADMonitor SMOGGIE-CO2 WiFi Carbon-Dioxide Monitor uRADMonitor SMOGGIE-CO2 WiFi Carbon-Dioxide Monitor Why we recommend it: An infrared sensor measures carbon dioxide directly, giving you a useful ventilation trend instead of estimating CO₂ from unrelated gases.  The compact, plastic-cased monitor also tracks temperature and humidity, with coloured indicators and a WiFi history view.  It needs continuous USB power and does not measure smoke particles or replace a carbon-monoxide alarm. Materials: plastic housing (resin unspecified) · infrared CO₂ sensor · temperature and humidity sensors $239.00 View product
uRADMonitor SMOGGIE-PM WiFi Particle Monitor uRADMonitor SMOGGIE-PM WiFi Particle Monitor Why we recommend it: This compact WiFi monitor tracks PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, helping you see particle trends around cooking, filtration or outdoor smoke.  Readings are available through its local network page or online dashboard; there is no numeric display.  It has a plastic housing and measures particles—not carbon dioxide or every airborne chemical. Materials: plastic housing (resin unspecified) · electronic particle, temperature and humidity sensors $239.00 View product
