Comforters

Children's comforters with natural fills and covers rather than polyester stuffing.

The material inside the comforter matters as much as the cotton on the outside.  We favor cotton, wool, down and other natural fills, identifying animal origins and any treatments.  Weight, warmth and laundering should fit the child's needs.  Comforters are for age-appropriate beds, not infant sleep spaces.

Duvetta Wool Comforter with Cotton Cover — Twin Duvetta Wool Comforter with Cotton Cover — Twin COTTONWOOLWOOL FILL Why we recommend it: A cotton cover and wool filling replace polyester padding in this warm twin-size comforter.  Box stitching helps keep the filling spread out, and a separate duvet cover makes everyday cleaning easier.  Wool can have a natural scent; follow the cool wool-cycle instructions and do not tumble dry.  For an older child's bed, not a crib.  Comforter only; other bedding pictured is not included. Materials: New Zealand wool fill · cotton cover $145.00★ 4.3 · 58 ratings View on Amazon

American Blossom Linens Cotton Quilted Bedspread — Twin American Blossom Linens Cotton Quilted Bedspread — Twin ORGANIC COTTONCOTTON FILL Why we recommend it: This quilt keeps both the shell and filling cotton, including needle-punched batting held together mechanically rather than with adhesive.  The percale outer fabric contains 45% organic cotton; the whole quilt is not described as organic.  Grown, spun, woven and sewn in the USA, it offers a lighter, breathable layer for a child's bed with quilting that helps keep the filling distributed. Materials: cotton percale shell, 45% organic cotton · cotton batting $239.00 View product
CozyPure Hand-Tied All-Season Wool Comforter — Twin CozyPure Hand-Tied All-Season Wool Comforter — Twin ORGANIC COTTONWOOLWOOL FILL Why we recommend it: Hand-tied wool batting gives this comforter its loft without polyester fill, and an organic cotton shell provides the fabric against the duvet cover.  CozyPure makes it in the USA with 50 ounces of wool in the Twin size.  It is a substantial all-season option for a child's bed; protect it with a washable cover, then spot clean and air the insert rather than machine washing it. Materials: wool fill · organic cotton shell $399.00 View product

Materials: European goose down · cotton $419.00 View product
Frankenmuth Woolen Mill Wool Comforter — Queen Frankenmuth Woolen Mill Wool Comforter — Queen ORGANIC COTTONWOOLWOOL FILL Why we recommend it: Wool batting and an organic-cotton cover make this a natural-fiber alternative to polyester-filled bedding.  Hand-tied tufts help keep the filling in place.  This queen-size comforter suits an older child’s or teen’s larger bed; it may be too warm for hot sleepers.  Use a washable duvet cover—the insert needs hand washing and line drying, and used bedding cannot be returned.
