Paper goods

Kitchen papers and reusable alternatives without added fragrance or PFAS food-contact treatments.

Parchment, wraps and paper towels can differ in more than their fiber.  We look for unbleached or appropriate chlorine-free processing and identify coatings used against food.  Compostability is considered separately: a product intended for an industrial facility may not break down in a home compost pile.

CAFEC Abaca Paper Coffee Filters — Size 02, 100 Count CAFEC Abaca Paper Coffee Filters — Size 02, 100 Count Why we recommend it: Abaca fiber and wood pulp make these a paper-filter option for a glass or ceramic pour-over setup.  The white paper is oxygen-bleached, not the unbleached brown version.  Its textured surface encourages fast drainage, so you may need a finer grind to get the flavor you prefer.  Fits size-02 V60-style drippers; handle wet filters gently. Materials: abaca fiber · wood pulp $9.10★ 4.8 · 1,000+ ratings View on Amazon
King Arthur Unbleached Half-Sheet Parchment Paper — 100 Sheets King Arthur Unbleached Half-Sheet Parchment Paper — 100 Sheets SILICONEPAPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: Unbleached paper with a light silicone coating helps cookies and roasted vegetables release cleanly, with no need for a disposable foil liner.  These flat sheets measure 16½ × 12¼ inches and fit inside a standard half-sheet pan.  The maker allows two or three uses while the paper remains in good condition, at oven temperatures up to 425°F. It is coated parchment, not plain untreated paper. Materials: unbleached paper · silicone coating $24.95★ 4.6 · 500+ ratings View on Amazon
Pacific Blue Basic 26401 Recycled Paper Towels — 12 Rolls Pacific Blue Basic 26401 Recycled Paper Towels — 12 Rolls PAPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: Green Seal certification backs the chlorine-free processing and fragrance restrictions for these recycled-paper towels.  They're a practical option for hand drying and everyday spills, with 350 feet on each roll.  The thin, unperforated paper needs a compatible roll-towel dispenser; it is not a soft, tear-off kitchen roll. Materials: recycled paper $44.80★ 4.6 · 6,000+ ratings View on Amazon
Filtropa No. 2 Paper Coffee Filters — 100 Count Filtropa No. 2 Paper Coffee Filters — 100 Count PAPER Why we recommend it: For a ceramic or glass dripper that takes No. 2 flat-bottom cone filters, these offer a simple paper option with no glued seams.  The white paper is whitened with oxygen rather than chlorine.  Check the filter shape before buying: these are not the pointed cones used in a V60.  Fold the seams and rinse before brewing; handle the wet paper gently. Materials: cellulose paper $8.99★ 4.5 · 200+ ratings View on Amazon
Seventh Generation Unbleached Recycled Paper Towels — 24 Rolls Seventh Generation Unbleached Recycled Paper Towels — 24 Rolls PAPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: Unbleached brown paper avoids a whitening step, and Seventh Generation leaves out added dyes, inks and fragrance.  At least 80% of the recycled fiber is post-consumer material.  These U.S.-made, two-ply rolls suit routine cleanup and come in a 24-roll case.  Recycled paper can carry trace contaminants, so this is not a claim that the towels are contaminant-free. Materials: 100% recycled paper fibers $57.96★ 4.4 · 3,000+ ratings View on Amazon
Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Napkins — Twelve 250-Count Packs Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Napkins — Twelve 250-Count Packs PAPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: These one-ply napkins provide a plain, fragrance-free option for meals and packed lunches, using recycled paper with at least 50% post-consumer fiber.  Seventh Generation specifies whitening without chlorine bleach and no added dyes or inks.  Made in the USA, they come in a 3,000-count case.  Recycled content does not guarantee the absence of trace contaminants. Materials: 100% recycled paper fibers $68.25★ 4.3 · 58 ratings View on Amazon

Materials: 100% recycled paper, with at least 50% post-consumer fiber $89.85 View product

Materials: 100% recycled paper, including 80% post-consumer fiber $8.07 View product
Green Forest Unscented Recycled Facial Tissues — 175 Count Green Forest Unscented Recycled Facial Tissues — 175 Count PAPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: An unscented facial tissue keeps added perfume out of a product used close to the nose and mouth.  This U.S.-made box contains two-ply recycled-paper tissues whitened without chlorine, with at least 90% post-consumer fiber listed by the seller.  It is a straightforward everyday tissue, not a lotion-treated or therapeutic product; recycled content alone does not establish contaminant-free paper. Materials: 100% recycled paper, with at least 90% post-consumer fiber $3.71 View product
Melitta No. 4 Bamboo-Blend Cone Coffee Filters — 80 Count Melitta No. 4 Bamboo-Blend Cone Coffee Filters — 80 Count PAPER Why we recommend it: Bamboo pulp makes up 40% of this filter paper, giving it a different fiber blend from Melitta's conventional brown filters without implying that it is all bamboo.  The manufacturer says its bamboo range is chlorine- and bleach-free.  U.S.-made, double-crimped No. 4 filters fit eight- to twelve-cup cone brewers; the remaining paper-pulp composition and individual raw-material origins are not itemized. Materials: cellulose filter paper containing 40% bamboo pulp · recycled-paperboard box $6.99 View product
Melitta No. 4 Natural Brown Cone Coffee Filters — 100 Count Melitta No. 4 Natural Brown Cone Coffee Filters — 100 Count PAPER Why we recommend it: Natural Brown filters use unbleached paper, and Melitta specifically identifies this range as chlorine- and bleach-free.  The double-crimped seam helps keep coffee grounds contained during brewing.  Made in the USA from domestic and/or imported materials, these No. 4 filters fit eight- to twelve-cup cone brewers.  The recycled-paper claim applies to the box, not to the filter paper itself. Materials: unbleached cellulose filter paper · recycled-paperboard box $6.99 View product
