Bath tools

Plant-fiber scrubbers and natural-bristle brushes for everyday washing and gentle exfoliation.

The fibers against your skin determine how a bath tool feels and wears.  We favor natural materials without added antimicrobial treatments and identify animal-derived bristles where used.  Brushes and scrubbers should rinse clean and dry thoroughly; firm scrubbing is not necessary for an effective wash.

Redecker Pig-Bristle Body Brush with Beechwood Knob Redecker Pig-Bristle Body Brush with Beechwood Knob Why we recommend it: A broad wooden knob gives you a secure palm grip for controlled body brushing.  Natural pig bristles and an oiled beechwood body replace the usual nylon-bristle, plastic-handle construction.  This is a firm brush, so start gently and let it dry fully after rinsing.  The animal-derived bristles make it unsuitable for a vegan routine. Materials: natural pig bristle · oiled beechwood $42.99★ 4.5 · 54 ratings View on Amazon
Iris Hantverk Oak and Horsehair Bath Brush with Long Handle Iris Hantverk Oak and Horsehair Bath Brush with Long Handle Why we recommend it: Soft, springy horsehair holds lather against an oiled-oak head, offering an alternative to nylon-bristle body brushes.  The long handle helps reach the back, and the tufts are wired into the wood.  Handmade in Sweden.  Rinse after use and dry bristle-side down; the wood still needs care, and scrubbing should never hurt. Materials: oiled oak · horsehair · metal tuft wire $41.00★ 4.4 · 100+ ratings View on Amazon
Redecker Wellfit Horsehair-and-Tampico Bath Brush Redecker Wellfit Horsehair-and-Tampico Bath Brush COTTON Why we recommend it: Horsehair and tampico plant fibers provide the scrubbing surface instead of a plastic mesh puff.  The curved beechwood handle reaches the back, then slides off so you can use the cotton hand strap for closer control.  Made in Germany.  Use gentle pressure, avoid irritated skin, and let the brush dry thoroughly between baths. Materials: steamed beechwood · horsehair and tampico fiber · cotton strap $45.99★ 4.3 · 62 ratings View on Amazon
Andrée Jardin Heritage Ash Body Brush with Cotton Strap Andrée Jardin Heritage Ash Body Brush with Cotton Strap COTTON Why we recommend it: A cotton hand strap steadies this oval brush, so you can control the pressure while the natural hog bristles exfoliate.  The ash body is heat-treated for better resistance to bathroom humidity, rather than relying on a plastic handle.  It is made in France with bristles sourced from Yunnan, China; use a light touch and let it dry bristles-down after washing. Materials: heat-treated ash · hog bristles (Yunnan, China) · cotton strap · metal fasteners $36.00 View product
Iris Hantverk Lovisa Double-Sided Tampico Nail Brush Iris Hantverk Lovisa Double-Sided Tampico Nail Brush Why we recommend it: Two bristle lengths make this useful after gardening or messy kitchen work: the short row reaches under nails, while the broader side cleans around them.  Both sides use tampico plant fiber rather than nylon or animal hair, set into an oil-treated oak grip.  Handmade in Sweden, it is a compact option for someone who wants a plant-bristle nail brush. Materials: oil-treated oak · tampico fiber · binding wire $20.00 View product
Iris Hantverk Oval Oak Bath Brush with Horsehair and Tampico Iris Hantverk Oval Oak Bath Brush with Horsehair and Tampico Why we recommend it: Tampico plant fiber adds a firmer scrub to the horsehair in this palm-sized oak brush.  Its handle-free shape is useful when you want close control while washing, with natural bristles instead of nylon.  Use light pressure and let it dry fully.  Made in Sweden; the horsehair is sourced from China. Materials: oil-treated oak · horsehair sourced from China · tampico plant fiber · binding wire $34.00 View product
Sasawashi Deep Exfoliating Body Scrub Mitt Sasawashi Deep Exfoliating Body Scrub Mitt COTTONLINENPAPER Why we recommend it: Coarse paper-yarn pile provides a washable surface for occasional exfoliation of tougher areas such as elbows and feet.  Linen and cotton finish the edges, but the supporting fabric contains polyester and polypropylene—this is not an all-natural-fiber mitt.  Made in Japan; use lightly rather than scrubbing irritated skin. Materials: washi paper yarn with kumazasa · polyester and polypropylene backing · linen and cotton piping $29.00 View product
