Shower filters

Shower filters with verified chlorine-reduction performance and clear disclosure of plastic components.

We look for evidence that a filter reduces free chlorine at its intended flow rate, rather than broad promises of pure water.  Chloramine, hardness minerals and PFAS require separate evidence.  Plastic housings and cartridges are allowed here, but disclosed, with replacement schedules and compatible cartridges identified.

Sprite HHC-2 Handheld Shower Filter Replacement Cartridges — 2 Pack Sprite HHC-2 Handheld Shower Filter Replacement Cartridges — 2 Pack COPPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: Two USA-made refills let owners of compatible Sprite handheld or hose filters change the treatment media without discarding the shower hardware.  Each contains copper-zinc and calcium-sulfite media inside a plastic cartridge with sealing O-rings.  The matching hose system has independently certified free-chlorine reduction; its instructions specify a change every three months or 5,000 gallons per cartridge.  This is not a universal refill or a water softener. Materials: copper-zinc filtration media · calcium sulfite · plastic cartridge shells (resin unspecified) · end screens · sealing O-rings (elastomer unspecified) $14.98★ 4.7 · 2,000+ ratings View on Amazon
Sprite SLC Slim-Line Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge Sprite SLC Slim-Line Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge COPPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: This compact USA-made refill fits Sprite Slim-Line systems, including the SL2, whose free-chlorine reduction is independently certified by IAPMO.  Its copper-zinc and calcium-sulfite media are enclosed in plastic, not a metal-only cartridge.  The SLC instructions call for replacement after four to six months or 10,000 gallons, whichever comes first.  Check the model before buying: it is not the larger High Output or SLHC refill, and it does not soften water. Materials: copper-zinc filtration media · calcium sulfite · ABS plastic cartridge shell · end screens (material unspecified) $14.78★ 4.7 · 4,000+ ratings View on Amazon
sproos! Two-Stage Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge sproos! Two-Stage Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge COPPER Why we recommend it: Keep a compatible sproos! shower filter working with this genuine replacement.  Its copper-zinc and calcium sulfite media target chlorine, while a fiber pad catches sediment; independent testing found chlorine reduction, not complete removal.  It contains plastic and does not soften hard water.  Replace every 90 days. Materials: copper-zinc filter media · calcium sulfite · polypropylene filter pad · ABS plastic housing $36.00★ 4.7 · 100+ ratings View on Amazon
WaterChef RCSF-7 Replacement Cartridge for SF-7C Showers WaterChef RCSF-7 Replacement Cartridge for SF-7C Showers USA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: This USA-made refill renews the carbon media in a WaterChef SF-7C or SF-7C-ECO without replacing the shower assembly.  It is the genuine cartridge specified for the systems' independently certified free-chlorine reduction.  Replace it by six months or 10,000 gallons, sooner if chlorine odor returns.  Water passes through a plastic cartridge shell; its resin and seal elastomer are not specified.  It does not soften water or establish chloramine protection. Materials: coconut-based catalytic carbon · plastic cartridge shell (resin unspecified) · filter pads (fibers unspecified) · sealing O-ring (elastomer unspecified) $31.95★ 4.7 · 300+ ratings View on Amazon
AquaYouth 2.0 Carbon Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge AquaYouth 2.0 Carbon Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge NSF Why we recommend it: Replacing the carbon cartridge lets you keep using an AquaYouth 2.0 shower filter without replacing its housing.  The matching UBS system is NSF/ANSI 177 certified to reduce free chlorine for 3,500 gallons at 2 gallons per minute.  This refill contains coconut-shell activated carbon and plastic components.  The maker recommends replacement every three to four months; water use and local conditions can shorten that interval. Materials: coconut-shell activated carbon · plastic components $24.95★ 4.6 · 700+ ratings View on Amazon
Sprite HOC High Output Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge Sprite HOC High Output Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge COPPERUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: For a Sprite HO2 filter, this USA-made Chlorgon refill maintains the system's IAPMO-certified free-chlorine reduction without replacing its housing.  Copper, zinc and calcium sulfite sit inside a plastic cartridge.  The maker rates it for up to 25,000 gallons or one year, whichever comes first; actual life depends on use and water conditions.  Reverse it periodically as instructed to maintain flow.  It is not a water softener. Materials: copper-zinc filtration media · calcium sulfite · plastic cartridge shell (resin unspecified) · end screens (material unspecified) $22.21★ 4.6 · 800+ ratings View on Amazon
Weddell Duo Replacement Cartridges — Carbon and Sediment Set Weddell Duo Replacement Cartridges — Carbon and Sediment Set NSF Why we recommend it: This set replaces both the carbon and sediment cartridges in a Weddell Duo shower filter.  With the correct cartridges installed, the Duo is NSF/ANSI 177 certified to reduce free chlorine for 10,000 gallons at 2 gallons per minute.  The refills contain plastic components.  Replace them on the maker’s schedule or sooner if sediment buildup reduces flow; they do not soften hard water. Materials: activated carbon · sediment filter · plastic components $29.98★ 4.5 · 600+ ratings View on Amazon
Weddell Duo WD-100WH Shower Filter — White Weddell Duo WD-100WH Shower Filter — White NSF Why we recommend it: The Duo pairs an activated-carbon block with a separate sediment cartridge to reduce free chlorine in shower water.  Its exact model is NSF/ANSI 177 certified, with a 10,000-gallon rating at 2 gallons per minute.  The housing and cartridge components contain plastic, and the supplied installation tape is PTFE (Teflon).  It is not a water softener; replace cartridges sooner if flow drops. Materials: activated carbon · ABS plastic housing · PTFE installation tape $89.98★ 4.5 · 1,000+ ratings View on Amazon
WaterChef SF-7C Filtered Handheld Shower — Brushed Nickel, 2.5 GPM WaterChef SF-7C Filtered Handheld Shower — Brushed Nickel, 2.5 GPM STAINLESS STEELSILICONEUSA PRODUCTION Why we recommend it: IAPMO certification backs this filter's free-chlorine reduction; its performance sheet reports 96.6% under test conditions.  Coconut-based catalytic carbon does the filtration.  The metal-look housing is ABS plastic, paired with a silicone-lined steel hose.  Made in the USA from domestic and imported parts.  It does not soften water, and the chlorine results do not establish chloramine removal.  This 2.5-GPM model has regional sales restrictions. Materials: coconut-based catalytic carbon · ABS plastic housing · plastic cartridge · stainless steel hose · silicone liner · metal fittings · rubber spray nozzles $109.95★ 4.3 · 1,000+ ratings View on Amazon
AquaYouth 2.0 Carbon Shower Filter AquaYouth 2.0 Carbon Shower Filter NSF Why we recommend it: A coconut-shell carbon cartridge targets chlorine, with polypropylene filters to catch sediment.  The Korean-made AquaYouth 2.0 uses UBS’s UMV-DS10CR system, which is NSF/ANSI 177 certified for free-chlorine reduction over 3,500 gallons at 2 gallons per minute.  Its housing and internal parts contain plastic.  This is a shower filter, not a water softener or a substitute for drinking-water treatment. Materials: coconut-shell activated carbon · polypropylene · ABS plastic housing $54.95★ 4.2 · 2,000+ ratings View on Amazon
