Even when the body of a bottle is stainless steel, a plastic lid, spout, or straw is often the part that contacts the mouth and the liquid.  Glass, stainless steel, and identified silicone at every mouth-contact point add nothing to what you drink.

Common questions

Why review the lid on a stainless-steel bottle?

The lid, straw, and spout may be the parts that touch both the drink and the mouth.  We identify those materials separately instead of treating a stainless bottle body as proof that every contact surface is metal.

Where does silicone fit?

Named food-contact silicone can be practical for gaskets, seals, straws, and protective sleeves.  We still want the maker to identify its location and use instructions, especially for hot liquids and replacement parts.
